Winnipeg, Canada — TSS Aviation, based in Cincinnati, and Standard Aero’s Maryville, Tennessee MRO facility have earned AS9100 and AS9110 certification, respectively. These certifications are the first received for the newly combined companies of Standard Aero, Landmark, TSS and Associated Air Center under the DAE Engineering Companies banner.
“In terms of quality accreditation, achieving this aerospace ISO standard is the pinnacle of certification for an MRO supplier,” said Leon Dodd, Corporate Director of Quality for Standard Aero. “Many of our customers now require this certification as a routine part of conducting business, and ultimately we expect over time that all the Standard Aero facilities will achieve these certifications.”
AS9100/AS9110 is the aerospace industry’s quality system standard for quality assurance in aircraft design, development, production, installation and servicing. It is a supplement to the international quality management system standard ISO9001, which aligns many of the existing aerospace quality system requirements. Additionally, the new standard harmonizes the requirements of former individual standards like the American AS9000, the European EN9000-1, EN9100 and SJAC9100. AS9100 addresses both civil and military aviation and aerospace requirements.
According to DNV Certification, a leading international certification and registration body, an AS9100/AS9110 certificate proves that an MRO’s quality system has been assessed against MRO best practices and found compliant. Independent AS9100/AS9110 certification by a third-party certification body/registrar is an indication of the firm’s commitment to quality, flight safety and reliability.
