StandardAero’s Springfield, Ill. Facility Receives FAA STC ODA Re-Certification

Tempe, Ariz. – October 5, 2011 – StandardAero announced today that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has re-certified the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) status at its Springfield, Ill. Facility (SPI).

The re-certification is the result of a mandatory audit by the FAA earlier this year conducted by the FAA’s Chicago Aircraft Certification Office. The audit found the Springfield facility to have “no findings” and re-certified the ODA for an additional three years.

“This is a very significant event in two ways,” said Scott Taylor, senior vice president, Business Aviation, StandardAero. “Not only do we retain our STC ODA authorization which allows us to deliver considerably shorter STC certification times, dramatically reducing down time for the aircraft operator; an audit of zero findings is very uncommon and validates the quality of work our ODA team performs. Being an STC ODA is just another example of our CompleteCare™, customer first, strategy.”

StandardAero’s Springfield facility transitioned from a Designated Alteration Station (DAS) to an ODA in June, 2009. Since then, the company has completed 29 STC certification and have 10 STC projects in progress, scheduled for completion by the end of 2011. The STCs include complete engine retrofits, new glass cockpits, and complete interiors on many different makes and model aircraft from Cessna Caravans to Boeing BBJs.

StandardAero’s ODA designation enables the company to approve design data, tests, and analysis as well as make findings of compliance to the regulations allowing them to sign STCs on behalf of the Federal Aviation Administration for aircraft alterations.
