More Than 20 Years of Predictive Maintenance Expertise

StandardAero has spent over two decades developing sophisticated reliability models and predictive maintenance technologies for military aircraft engines. These tools are currently supporting several major defense platforms including:

  • C-130 Hercules with the T56 engine
  • T-38 Talon with the J85 engine
  • C-5 Galaxy with the TF39 engine
  • B-52 Stratofortress with the TF33 engine
  • F-15 Eagle and F-16 Fighting Falcon fleets using F100 and F110 engines

Dispatch or Deployment Readiness Tool (DRT)

For installed engines, the DRT evaluates whether an engine is likely to require removal before the aircraft’s next scheduled maintenance window. This allows operators to proactively manage risk and minimize unexpected downtime.

Work Scope Cost Optimizer (WCO)

For engines already in repair, the WCO identifies the repair depth that delivers the best cost per engine flying hours after a shop visit. This helps maintenance planners balance performance, cost efficiency, and operational availability.

Fleet Fly Forward Forecasting

The Fleet Fly Forward tools provide long-range forecasting of future engine shop visits, including: anticipated work scopes; material requirements; & future maintenance scheduling needs.These forecasting capabilities allow operators to improve logistics planning and optimize supply chain support.

A Smarter Approach to Reliability Modeling

What makes StandardAero’s predictive maintenance tools different is the depth and adaptability of the underlying reliability models.

Unlike traditional engine trending systems that focus primarily on sensor-monitored failure models, Maintenance Insight models evaluate the entire system and account for all failure mechanisms. The models also adapt dynamically to the specific health trends of individual engines.

According to StandardAero, fleets using Maintenance Insight tools typically achieve approximately a 10% improvement in cost per engine flying hours compared to fleets without the technology.

Next action indicator for WCO

The new “Next Action Indicator” feature within the Work Scope Cost Optimizer provides planners with visibility into the time-on-wing benefits associated with incremental repair actions.

This capability becomes especially valuable when material shortages or operational constraints prevent a fully optimized repair strategy.

Enhanced reliability calculations for DRT

The Dispatch or Deployment Readiness Tool is also receiving a patented (patent pending) enhancement that improves reliability calculations related to:

  • Engine margin degradation rates
  • Cycles per flying hours

This advancement enables more accurate readiness forecasting and maintenance planning for deployed operations.
