Tempe, Ariz. – October 17, 2013 – StandardAero was awarded a contract worth up to $97 million to provide Pratt & Whitney Canada, PT6A-68 engine MRO services from Dyncorp International, which serves as the prime contractor to the JPATS Program Office for the T-6 COMBS contract. The contract stipulates that StandardAero will provide engine repair and overhaul for PT6A-68 engines that power Beechcraft, T-6 Trainer aircraft flown by both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy.
Recently, StandardAero announced its expanded turboprop engine test capabilities, component repair and tooling for PT6A-68 engines, investing more than $2.5 million and 5,000 engineering hours developing the new service capability. The test cell, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba was correlated in July, 2013 by P&WC.
“This is a huge win for StandardAero and expands our presence within the U.S. government and military marketplaces,” said Alain Berube, Vice President & General Manager, Turboprops and Fleets, StandardAero. “We have already expanded our facility capacity to provide support to this contract six days per week with extended hours.”
StandardAero’s contract terms provide for services through October, 2017. Forecasted volumes are estimated at 30-40 engine overhauls per year under an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract structure.
StandardAero has been designated by the OEM as a Designated Distributor and Overhaul Facility (DDOF) for the PT6A-68, -68B and -68C which allows StandardAero to bid on additional MRO service for Beechcraft, T-6 Texan II, Pilatus, PC-21 military trainers and the Embraer, EMB 314 Super Tucano military operators around the world.
