StandardAero ‘Raises the Bar’ for Gas Turbine R&O Technicians: Winnipeg Site Certified by CCAA as Accredited Training Facility

Tempe, Ariz. – June 29, 2011 – StandardAero announced today that the Canadian Council for Aviation and Aerospace (CCAA) – formerly known as CAMC – has granted accreditation of its Training Cell in Winnipeg, Canada. Accreditation recognizes StandardAero’s Gas Turbine Engine Repair and Overhaul Program and allows the company the right to issue graduating students a nationally-recognized certificate of accomplishment. The certificate of accreditation is good through May, 2012. The accreditation is for the program and as such ensures the National Occupational Standard (NOS) identified learning objectives are met. Should an external auditor look into the training delivered within the Wpg site the program and its accreditation will serve to minimize potential findings

“Today’s announcement by the CCAA, reflects StandardAero’s commitment to ensuring quality and technical excellence in aviation MRO,” said Tom Roche, Vice President, Turboprops and Fleets, StandardAero. “By setting a standard of training excellence in gas turbine engine repair and overhaul, we are raising the bar for other MRO service providers to offer programs that meet or exceed ours. Either way, we’re facilitating competence in our industry and instilling confidence in our customers.”

Accreditation is a quality assurance process that evaluates how well aviation and aerospace training programs conform to the requirements established in an occupation’s National Training Standard (Instructor Guide/Curriculum), which is based on CCAA’s Occupational Standards.

CCAA’s accreditation process measures the extent to which a training organization’s program meets or exceeds the requirements specified in the CCAA Instructor Guide for that discipline. Training programs are audited every three years to maintain accredited status.

Over the past 3 years we have had 174 employees go through our internal Gas Turbine Engine Repair and Overhaul Technician training program.
