StandardAero Kicks off Centennial Celebration at HELI-EXPO

Orlando, Fla. – March 5, 2011 – StandardAero kicks off its 100th birthday celebration at this year’s Helicopter Association International (HAI) HELI-EXPO 2011. As part of this year’s show in Orlando, Fla., StandardAero will be celebrating its milestones and achievements over the past one hundred years. Originally founded as Standard Machine Works in Winnipeg in 1911, StandardAero has grown into one of the world’s largest independent repair and overhaul companies supporting the aerospace industry. A multifaceted product line includes engine MRO of general aviation, air transport, business aviation, military transport and, of course, helicopters.

The Helicopters Program first launched in 1967 when StandardAero gained authorization from the Allison Engine Company to perform repair and overhaul of the Model 250 engine. Since its inception, over 15,000 Model 250 engine equivalents have been processed through StandardAero repair and overhaul facilities. StandardAero remains as committed today to delivering world-class service and support, as it was in its infancy in 1967.

Over the past year, StandardAero landed several key contracts to augment the company’s growing helicopter maintenance repair and overall (MRO) service portfolio. Included, were piece-parts MRO support for the U.S. Army Fleet Support’s TH-67 Flying Hour Program and, most recently, a five-year contract for Model 250 support for the City of Nashville, Metropolitan Police Department.

“We’re very excited to have HELI-EXPO 2011 as the launch venue for our second 100 years,” said StandardAero Vice President Helicopter Programs, Tom Roche. “We’re continuing to add some very impressive customers to our growing list of satisfied clients, and our partnership with Rolls-Royce has never been stronger. Our diverse customer base in military, police, EMS, corporate, tourism, oil and gas support, and utility operators has provided us with exceptional strength and resiliency to market shifts. Given our diversity and increasing momentum, our bi-centennial should really be something,” concluded Roche.
