StandardAero Expands Airline and Commercial Aviation Engine MRO Field Service

Scottsdale, Ariz. – June 3, 2015 – StandardAero’s Airlines & Fleets business unit has reorganized and expanded its Field Service to better support commercial aviation customers with MRO services and AOG support. As part of the effort, the company has created a new position of Field Service Director and appointed Rob Despins to that role, reporting to executive leadership. In addition, the Field Service function, comprised of over 35 skilled professionals, now reports directly to Airlines & Fleets’ Sales & Marketing Vice President, Rob Higby. This change follows a series of decisions to better allow for customer focus and alignment of functions to deliver MRO services at the convenience of airline/aircraft operators.

“Over the past several months, our team drove an important initiative to analyze the Field Service model we deployed in the market. The findings led us to significant changes and investments to bring more capabilities to the field and, at the same time, create more alignment with our shops and field service team,” said Rob Cords, President of StandardAero Airlines & Fleets.

StandardAero’s Field Service team provides comprehensive services including engine maintenance, repair, overhaul & test, shipping and logistics, leased engine support, on-wing removal and reinstallation, global field service support, on-site problem solving and troubleshooting, engine reliability monitoring, comprehensive warranty support and component repair and overhaul for commercial aviation customers worldwide. The primary objective of StandardAero Field Service is to efficiently provide fast, reliable and safe service to customers in need, wherever they are.

“When maintenance or repairs are needed, moving an aircraft or an aircraft engine to a service center is not always practical, convenient or affordable. With the expansion of our Field Services, StandardAero is now better able to deliver dedicated teams who are trained, equipped and authorized to provide troubleshooting, emergency warranty and maintenance services 24-hours a day – providing the industry’s best services, anywhere in the world,” Cords added.

With the new organization now in place, Despins will be responsible for ensuring StandardAero Field Service Representatives are effectively staffed, trained and deployed around the world maintaining critical technical requirements with strong connectivity to the company’s maintenance shops.

Despins is a 27-year veteran with Standard Aero, who previously served the company in numerous leadership capacities including Training, Human Resources, PT6 Operations Management, Special Projects and Airlines Program Management.
