Scottsdale, Ariz. – February 8, 2018 – StandardAero is once again demonstrating its industry leadership in the world of in-flight connectivity, utilizing Ka-band technology with the development of another first-of-type program using the Honeywell JetWave™ satellite communications system and Inmarsat’s Global Xpress (GX) Ka-band satellite network for the Gulfstream GV aircraft.
Just recently, StandardAero completed its STC for the GV model, which also includes the terminal, router and purposely designed direct replacement radome. Prototype installation was completed ahead of schedule in partnership with Western Jet Aviation in Van Nuys. First Article installation is complete and the STC with accompanying radome, is available now. In the last year, StandardAero also developed new supplemental type certificates (STCs) for several other business aircraft models.
Honeywell’s JetWave™ satellite communications hardware exclusively connects to Inmarsat’s Global Xpress Ka-band satellite constellation. The service is called Jet ConneX and provides operators with speeds up to 15 Mbps.
“We are excited to continue to offer these systems, which are designed and proven to provide broadband-class data connectivity for our customers,” said Brian Campbell, Vice President of Global Sales for StandardAero Business Aviation. “The hardware and network are optimized for mobility to provide a consistently outstanding passenger experience all over the world.”
“Inmarsat is impressed with all of StandardAero’s Jet ConneX STC and radome efforts. The GV is no exception. With Jet ConneX, they get that reliability and global coverage, now with speeds similar to what they might experience on the ground,” said Michael Rack, Inmarsat’s Senior Vice President of Business Aviation.
