OSHKOSH, Wisc. – July 22, 2024 – StandardAero, a leading independent provider of engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, is celebrating 60 years of supporting Pratt & Whitney Canada’s PT6A turboprop. The PT6A engine family powers a broad range of aircraft types in service with business, general aviation, commercial and military operators worldwide.
In 1964, Dallas Airmotive (acquired by StandardAero in 2021) became the first independent MRO provider to enter into an agreement with Pratt & Whitney Canada for the PT6A turboprop, which had received Canadian and U.S. certification approval the prior year.
Today, StandardAero supports the PT6A engine from four overhaul locations worldwide: its Center of Excellence (COE) for Turboprop Engine MRO in Summerside, PEI, Canada (which processed its first PT6A in 2000); Gonesse, France (which processed its first PT6A in 1975); Lanseria, South Africa (which opened in 2010); and Brisbane, Australia (which opened in 2013). Operators are also able to benefit from access to eleven StandardAero PT6A service centers across North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

Ranging in power from 500 shp to over 1,900 shp, PT6A engines are available in more than 70 models, offering unsurpassed flexibility and capability for a variety of applications. Members of the family currently power aircraft with over 8,000 operators in more than 180 countries and having accumulated over 500 million flying hours.
