StandardAero Celebrates 10 Years Supporting CFM56-7B Operators Worldwide

PARIS – June 18, 2019 – StandardAero is now celebrating the 10th anniversary of its support of the CFM International CFM56-7B turbofan engine from its world-class overhaul facility in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.  This anniversary comes just two months after StandardAero delivered its 500th CFM56-7B engine, which powers the Boeing 737 Next Generation family of single-aisle airliners.

StandardAero launched its CFM56-7B program in June 2009, when it was selected to support WestJet’s fleet of engines under an exclusive 13-year OnPoint solution contracted by the Canadian airline with GE Aviation.  Under this deal, StandardAero was appointed as a GE Designated Fulfillment Center for the CFM56-7B, supporting the engine from a newly expanded facility in Winnipeg.  WestJet engines account for more than half of the 500 units shipped to date by StandardAero.

Four years later, StandardAero was appointed as an independent TRUEngine™ authorized MRO provider for the CFM56-7B, demonstrating its commitment to delivered quality.  And in 2016, StandardAero signed a multi-year offload agreement with GE Aviation to provide CFM56-7B MRO services in support of GE’s Southwest Airlines program, further establishing the company’s reputation as a powerhouse on the engine.

Commemorating the anniversary on behalf of CFM International, Alan Kelly, General Manager – CFM Services at GE Aviation, said, “The CFM team at GE Aviation would like to congratulate StandardAero on reaching yet another milestone.  Ten years and over 500 engines overhauled is testament to the talent men and women in Winnipeg who have made this possible.”

David Green, VP/GM (CF34/CFM56) Airlines & Fleets for StandardAero, added, “The team at StandardAero is immensely proud to support GE Aviation, WestJet and the CFM56-7B operator community worldwide.  Over the past decade our Winnipeg team has established itself as one of the most trusted providers of CFM56-7B MRO services in the industry, and with over 8,000 CFM56-7B engines still in service, we look forward to continuing to support Boeing 737 NG operators around the world for decades to come.”
