StandardAero Amends Pro Line 21™ STC for Falcon 20 to include WAAS/LPV Capability

Las Vegas, Nev. – October 10, 2011 – StandardAero Business Aviation announced today that it has completed a Pro Line 21™ upgrade with Wide Area Augmentation System/Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (WAAS/LPV) on a Falcon 20 aircraft.

Today’s announcement marks the first Falcon 20 completed with the WAAS/LPV option included as part of the Pro Line 21™ flight deck upgrade. With the amended StandardAero STC, the WAAS/LPV option is now available to Falcon 20 owners who have already completed the Pro Line 21™ upgrade and Falcon 20 operators who desire to upgrade to Pro Line 21™ flight deck avionics and want to take advantage of WAAS/LPV approach capability.

”This is a very important announcement for Falcon 20 operators as it provides a growth path for upgrading their flight deck with Pro Line 21™ avionics including the ability to perform LPV precision approaches,” said Jeremy Thomas, Avionics Product Director, StandardAero Business Aviation.” With more than 2,600 approaches available today in the US, the added functionality of WAAS/LPV greatly increases the flexibility and access to additional airports and runways where ILS is unavailable or out of service.”

Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) is the United States implementation of Satellite-Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) which uses a combination of satellites and ground stations to dramatically improve the GPS’s accuracy, availability, and integrity. Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV) provides vertical navigation by the GPS without cold temperature limitations that are common to traditional RNAV approaches. Published RNAV charts are now available with WAAS/LPV minimums as low as 200 feet and ½ mile visibility similar to the flight deck operation of Category I ILS approaches.

StandardAero is authorized to perform avionics modifications and upgrades at any of its four MRO facilities in Springfield, Ill., Augusta, Ga., Los Angeles and Houston, Texas.

StandardAero will be exhibiting at the 64th Annual National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Convention and Expo on October 10–12, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nev., (Booth N6116).
