Winnipeg, Manitoba, July 7, 2006 – Standard Aero has been awarded a contract to provide Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-25 and -34 turboprop engine repair and overhaul services for the U.S. Navy’s T-34 and T-44 trainer aircraft. Sikorsky Support Services Inc. (SSSI) is the prime contractor and will provide Contractor Logistics Support for the Chief of Naval Air Training’s Undergraduate Student Naval Aviator (CNATRA) training missions. The contract includes a three-month base period plus four option years. The total value to SSSI for the base period is $22 million. Standard Aero’s agreement with SSSI is part of the Industrial and Regional Benefits Program related to Canada’s Maritime Helicopter Project, awarded to Sikorsky Aircraft in 2004.

Since 1985, Standard Aero has serviced over 2,300 PT6 engines and is a Pratt & Whitney Canada Distributor and Designated Overhaul Facility. The PT6A engine powers the U.S. Navy’s primary and intermediate flight training aircraft, T-34C Turbo Mentor and T-44A Pegasus. The Navy operates over 280 T-34C and 54 T-44A aircraft located at NAS Corpus Christi, Texas, NAS Whiting Field, Milton, Florida, and 9 other satellite sites throughout the U.S. Standard Aero will provide PT6 depot maintenance and repairs at the company’s Winnipeg, Manitoba and Maryville, Tennessee facilities, in addition to on-site field service support and program oversight from the company’s San Antonio, Texas offices.
