‘Postmodern’ interior renovation, ramp expansion completed at Landmark Aviation’s Los Angeles International Airport FBO

Los Angeles, California, — Landmark Aviation today announced the completion of a $2.6 million interior renovation and ramp expansion at its Los Angles International Airport (LAX) fixed base operation (FBO), including 35,000 square feet of additional ramp and a new lobby, pilot lounge, conference room and VIP area.

“Landmark’s refurbished Los Angeles facility is a state-of-the-art stylish FBO, offering customers a postmodern interior and enhanced amenities including a new VIP lounge,” said David Lamb, Vice President and General Manager. “The full service maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) at the operation also continues a strong legacy as the West Coast’s premier aircraft repair center, as it has for more than 40 years. Our expanded ramp provides passengers and crew better traffic flow, and quicker and easier access to the FBO.”

The 3,600-square-foot FBO renovation includes a new lobby, expanded restrooms, weather room, conference room that seats 10, kitchen with Starbucks coffee service, and pilots’ lounge. The layout of the FBO and ramp allow passengers and crew to “exit an aircraft and have immediate access to the lobby,” Lamb said. “Passengers can walk 40 feet across the lobby to the parking lot, which has been enlarged and reconfigured to improve traffic flow.”

New furnishings, travertine and tile floor and wall accents provide a comfortable, highly functional interior. The facility offers complete FBO services, including concierge, business center, wireless Internet, and flat screen TVs with satellite programming. The new crew lounge has recliners and a separate darkened “quiet room” for pilots. From the crew lounge, pilots have a clear view of the lobby entrance.

To increase security and help ensure passenger/crew safety and privacy, the parking lot features a new lighting system, security fencing and a monitored camera security system.

The MRO service center provides business aviation operators full maintenance services, including aircraft on ground (AOG) assistance and access to the company’s 135 certificate charter aircraft. The operation is a Class 4 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified repair station and a factory authorized service center for Bombardier, Raytheon and Dassault Falcon aircraft. Landmark LAX provides turbine engine and auxiliary power unit (APU) factory authorized repair and major overhaul to support all business aviation aircraft. Additionally, LAX provides 24/7 line station support to fractional business jet operators.

In addition to the full service FBO and MRO at LAX, the operation is the base for three Landmark Mobile Service Teams of technicians available 24/7 for aircraft repairs on-site throughout the United States.

The operation covers 11.7 acres and offers 59,800 square feet of hangar space and 84,600 square feet of shop and office space.

As part of the Landmark Aviation vision to “enhance the ownership and operating experience for every customer,” the company, which announced a corporate branding in late 2005, is renovating major facilities in North America, Lamb said. Recent improvements include a refurbishment of the Dulles, Va., FBO serving the Washington, D.C., area, and a renovation and ramp expansion at Toronto. Hangar and FBO improvements have been made at the company’s operations at Charlottesville, Va., Roanoke, Va., Norfolk, Va., Leesburg, Va., and Raleigh, N.C. A renovation of the company’s Westchester, N.Y., FBO is planned.
