Landmark Aviation offers ARINC DIRECT SKYLink sattelite broadband on-board communications for business aircraft

Tempe, Arizona, — Landmark Aviation, one of the world’s leading sources of aircraft modifications, has entered into a dealership agreement to install the ARINC DIRECT SKYLink ultra-high speed satellite broadband communication system.

“In response to increasing demand from business aircraft customers to be connected to today’s communication and wireless systems while in flight, Landmark Aviation selected the ARINC high speed data and broadband system,” said Mike Anderson, Director of Avionics, Landmark Aviation. “ARINC provides all data intensive business applications, including high-speed Internet, e-mail, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), corporate intranet, and Voice Over IP (VoIP) telephone and FAX over IP (FoIP) services with the ARINC DIRECT’s SKYLink Broadband system.”

SKYLink coverage, which is currently available in North America, Europe and the Middle Eastern region, will expand this year to include the North Atlantic region. The system can transmit and receive data in all phases of flight.

Landmark Aviation will install the SKYLink Broadband system for business aircraft including the Gulfstream GIV, GIV-SP, G400, GV, G500, G550, Cessna Citation X, Dassault Falcon 900 and Bombardier Global Express,” Anderson said. Installations will be completed at Landmark Aviation’s Springfield, Ill., maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operation.

“SKYLink represents outstanding value and exceptional range of service for aircraft owners and operators – which is consistent with the superior service and quality offered by Landmark Aviation at our MRO and completion centers,“ he added.

Introduced in 2005, SKYLink is the only Ku-band satellite technology that addresses the unique space, cost and connectivity requirements of business aircraft. It is faster, smaller, lighter, more efficient and less costly than other airborne satellite systems. It provides “plug-and-play” accessibility for laptop users with a network cable or a wireless connection to a preconfigured server.

ARINC develops and operates communications and information processing systems and provides systems engineering and integration for five industries: airports, aviation, defense, government and surface transportation.
