Garrett / Piedmont Hawthorne / Associated Receives STC for Rockwell Collins IDS-3000 Avionics for Falcon 200, FJ44 Citation 501

TEMPE, Ariz., August 30, 2005 — Garrett / Piedmont Hawthorne / Associated today announced that it has received Supplemental Type Certification (STC) approvals for installation of Rockwell Collins’ IDS-3000 Integrated Display Systems on Dassault Mystere-Falcon 200 and FJ44 Eagle II Citation 501 series aircraft.

“With these installations, we continue our leadership position in avionics upgrades for corporate jet aircraft,” said Michael Anderson, Director of Avionics. “The Falcon 200 installation includes four 8-inch-by-10-inch active matrix liquid crystal displays – two primary flight displays and two multi-function displays – that replace the aircraft’s original flight instruments. The new equipment integrates additional information for the flight deck, providing greater situational awareness. This, combined with a reduced cost of ownership, growth to support future Free Flight requirements and improved reliability makes sense for a lot of flight departments,” Anderson said.

The F-200 package also includes a new turbulence detection weather radar, digital air data computers and a Rockwell Collins Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS). The optional Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS), GH-3000 Electronic Standby Instrument System and XM Satellite Weather Receiver are included.

The IFIS system displays electronic charts and maps, and with the installation of the optional XM Weather Receiver, provides real-time graphical weather information.

Through close collaboration with Rockwell Collins, the IDS-3000 Integrated Display System also received STC approval in a Garrett modified FJ44 Eagle II Citation 501. The IDS-3000 STC for the FJ44 Citation 501 is the first Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification of the system.

The Citation IDS-3000 package is available in a two or three display format. In the FJ44 Citation 501, the new displays also replace the aircraft’s existing electromechanical engine instruments. The installation includes a new Rockwell Collins turbulence detection weather radar, digital air data computers, IFIS File Server and options for AHRS and XM Satellite Weather Receiver.

In conjunction with the IDS installation, a new Garmin 530, 430, 330 Radio Package and a Collins TCAS-4000 TCAS II (Traffic and Collision Avoidance System) were also certified.

“The IDS-3000 STC packages provide modern, advanced flight deck upgrade options for the FJ44 Eagle II Citation 501 and Falcon 200,” Anderson said.
