    Smoke or odor in the cabin is a tell tale sign that your APU ejector system is in need of servicing.

    Common causes of injector system issues include oil leaking through the APU compressor carbon seal, excessive main rotor group vibration, a potential defective carbon face seal, and cooked oil between the seal rotor and carbon seal.

    Many APU ejector system issues stem from these common ejector and oil venting problems:

    • Missing packing on the dip stick
    • Leaking main drive carbon seal
    • Cut packing or packing incorrectly installed
    • Main drive carbon seal incorrectly installed
    • Carbon seal broken during installation
    • Any outside air will cause oil venting out the tail pipe
    • Packing cut while checking the oil
    • Starter motor internal leaks (rare occurrence)
