In December 2022, StandardAero was announced as part of the team supporting Symphony, the Boom-developed sustainable and cost-efficient engine for Overture. StandardAero joined the Symphony team as Boom’s strategic engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) partner, helping to ensure that the Symphony powerplant is designed for maintainability.
Boom’s collaboration with StandardAero aims to deliver reliable and economical operations, and the provision of maintenance services for the life of the aircraft. StandardAero brings to the Symphony team extensive experience assembling, integrating, testing and supporting supersonic jet engines, including the GE F100 and J85 and the P&W F100 and F135, plus an established reputation for providing commercial airline operators worldwide with reliable, responsive support.
StandardAero will work with Boom to prioritize ease of maintenance during the conceptual development, detailed design and production phases of Symphony. Together with Boom, StandardAero will help deliver reliable and economical operations for the life of the aircraft. Symphony is expected to deliver a 25% increase in time on wing and significantly lower engine maintenance costs, reducing overall airplane operating costs for airline customers by 10% compared to derivative engine approaches.
Boom Supersonic is transforming air travel with Overture, the world’s fastest airliner, optimized for speed, safety, and sustainability. Catering to both commercial and government markets, Overture will fly at twice the speed of today’s airliners and is optimized to run on 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
