Associated Air Center Wins Texas Environmental Excellence Award (TEEA) for Pollution Prevention

Tempe, Ariz. – April 22, 2013 – Associated Air Center (AAC), StandardAero’s Large Transport Category VIP Completions Center in Dallas, Texas, announced that it has received the state of Texas’ highest environmental achievement, the Texas Environmental Excellence Award. The award was given for AAC’s pollution reduction achievements involving chromate reduction and LED aircraft task lighting.

“Although being recognized for our environmental enhancement processes is an honor, the true motivation and gratification is the significance of our impact on the environment,” said Chris Schechter, Vice President & General Manager, Associated Air Center. “To successfully meet the 16-member Committee’s criteria of innovation, benefits, measurable outcomes, and education/knowledge transfer, means we’re employing world-class systems both in terms of our work flow and the environment. We’re very pleased to be doing our part and doing it well.”

AAC is receiving the award for its sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement projects in the reduction and/or elimination of products and processes that use hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) as well as the utilization of LED (light-emitting diode) task lighting within aircraft projects.

AAC continues to be recognized by the City of Dallas with consecutive Blue Thumb Awards and Pollution Prevention Awards. In 2012, the City of Dallas recognized AAC for reducing water consumption by 2 million gallons by modifying its fire pumps to dead-head during required weekly tests. The Texas Environmental Excellence Award, presented by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), has been approved by Texas Governor Rick Perry and will be presented to AAC on May 1, 2013 in Austin, Texas at the Austin Convention Center as part of the TCEQ Environmental Trade Fair and Conference.
