Associated Air Center Receives Wi-Fi STC Approval for Boeing 737 VVIP Aircraft

Tempe, Ariz. – April 7, 2014 – Associated Air Center (AAC), StandardAero’s Large Transport Category VIP completion center in Dallas, Texas, has received STC approval for multiple Wi-Fi solutions for the Satcom Direct Router (SDR) applicable for Boeing 737-300, -400, -500, -600, -700, -800, -900 and -900 ER series aircraft.

The SDR is a dual band unit which can manage multiple satcom systems such as Swift64, SwiftBroadband, Ku band, Ka band and X band whether the aircraft is airborne or on the ground. The SDR also has a 3G cellular service feature for use while the aircraft is on the ground. The system can easily be integrated with existing platforms and systems manufactured by Cobham, Thrane & Thrane, Honeywell and Rockwell Collins.

“We are pleased to offer this new, approved Wi-Fi capability to our VVIP completion customers,” said Patrico Altuna, Executive Vice President, AAC. “The STC now will allow customers to seamlessly switch between networks and split Wi-Fi traffic between multiple networks. It provides many more communications options in the aircraft.”

The SDR can be used with any existing satcom service provider; however, full optimization is achieved using Satcom Direct services.

“We designed the SDR to be very user friendly, easily configurable and highly customizable,” said Curt Gray, Chief Technology Officer at Satcom Direct. “It also can be easily accessed and monitored using Satcom Direct’s mobile apps. Congratulations to AAC for achieving this important STC approval for its customers.”
