Associated Air Center Receives AS9110 Certification: Highest Accreditation Recognized for Aviation Maintenance Providers

Geneva, Switzerland – May 21, 2013 – Associated Air Center (AAC), StandardAero’s Large Transport Category VIP Completions Center in Dallas, Texas, has received its AS9110 certification. The AS9110 standard is unique to the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) industry and is a derivative of the initial ISO 9000 governance standards that focus on the aviation industry. Certification was provided by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an international third-party accreditation foundation near Oslo, Norway.

Having a quality management system certified to the internationally-recognized AS9110 Standard ensures the quality of systems and procedures used within the global aviation supply chain, ultimately resulting in increased aircraft reliability and passenger safety.

“We are very pleased with our achievement as it represents a milestone we have been working towards for several years now,” said Leon Dodd, Vice President, Corporate Quality, StandardAero. “Our audit certification validates our commitment to safety management systems (SMS) – something StandardAero embraced several years ago; long before many in the aviation industry incorporated it – and underscores the importance we place on human factors. During the audit, over 60 individuals were interviewed and countless others were involved, reflecting the huge commitment and belief we have in the value of certification.”

Some specifics referenced by DNV during the audit included upper management’s commitment to customers, the well-being of their employees and growth of their company. Other recognitions cited by DNV were that the employees were “very committed to the success and growth of the company” and that StandardAero’s Quality management System, even though new, was “created on a firm foundation and well established.”

“Some of these highlights are noteworthy since AAC went from a non ISO-certificated management system, directly to a certificated AS9110 accreditation; skipping an intermediate step of ISO 9001/2008, taken by most Aerospace Companies,” said Jack Lawless, Chief Operating Officer, StandardAero and President, AAC. “This is relatively unheard of in our industry and it speaks volumes of our management commitment, not just for AAC, but for all StandardAero locations.”

In addition to Associated Air Center in Dallas, StandardAero now has multiple sites accredited to AS9110; they are: Winnipeg, Canada, Maryville, Tenn., Cincinnati, Ohio and San Antonio, Texas.
