Associated Air Center Acquires Supplemental Type Certificate for Aircell AGT-5000 Wireless Internet on Boeing 757-200 Aircraft

Tempe, Ariz. – January 4, 2012 – Associated Air Center, StandardAero’s Large Transport Category, VIP Aircraft Completions Center in Dallas, Texas, announced today that it has achieved Supplemental Type Certification (STC) for the installation of an Aircell ATG-5000 wireless internet on a Boeing 757-200 aircraft. The STC was accomplished with the support of the company’s business aviation completion facility in Springfield, Ill. (SPI).

“In-flight connectivity is critical to manage the lightning-fast pace under which today’s global businesses operate,” said Troy Jonas, Vice President and General Manager, Associated Air Center. “AAC and our sister facility in Springfield have identified the importance of offering in-flight connectivity, in the form of wireless internet and Sat-TV, and have focused on developing practical solutions to fulfill these customer requirements.”

This integrated cooperation between Associated Air Center (AAC) and StandardAero Springfield has also resulted in STC approval and installation of the ATG-5000 wireless internet on several other Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) aircrafts.

The 757-200 aircraft, which received the STC approval in December 2011, is owned by MLW Aviation and operated by Elan Express – the exclusive air transportation provider of the NBA World Champion, Dallas Mavericks.

AAC performed the original interior completion on this aircraft back in 2001 and since then has regularly provided MLW Aviation with maintenance repair and overhaul services, incorporating numerous cabin system upgrades. Both AAC and StandardAero Springfield are STC Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) facilities authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to conduct aircraft alterations on behalf of the FAA.
