StandardAero Achieves Industry’s First EASA STC for Gulfstream GV/GV-SP JetWaveTM Ka-band Connectivity Solution

Scottsdale, Ariz. – June 28, 2018 – Earlier this month, StandardAero received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approval for its Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for installing Honeywell JetWaveTM satellite communications systems and associated Ka-Band radomes on EASA-registered Gulfstream GV/GV-SP aircraft.

In December, 2017, StandardAero completed the first STC program using Honeywell JetWave and Inmarsat’s Global Xpress (GX) Ka-band satellite network for U.S.-based Gulfstream GV and GV-SP operators — which also included the terminal, router and purposely designed direct replacement Ka radome.

This EASA STC is StandardAero’s second for installing JetWave systems outside of the U.S.

“It’s very challenging to achieve STC validation through EASA’s rigorous certification process — especially with a development program such as this one,” said Marc Drobny, President of StandardAero Business Aviation. “This is a huge announcement as many European GV/GV-SP operators have inquired about this STC.”

Orders for radomes can be placed immediately and there are no quantity restrictions. Installation services are available at StandardAero’s Springfield, Illinois maintenance facility.

Honeywell’s JetWave™ satellite communications hardware exclusively connects to Inmarsat’s Global Xpress Ka-band satellite constellation. The service is called Jet ConneX and provides operators with speeds up to 15 Mbps, similar to the performance of ground-based systems. The hardware and network are optimized for mobility to provide a consistent passenger experience all around the globe.

StandardAero is aligned and authorized by the vast majority of cabin management and connectivity manufacturers, offering a broad variety of installation options for business aviation customers. In addition, through its in-house Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) delegation, StandardAero is a leading provider of Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approvals for avionics and cabin management systems.
