Orlando, Fla. – October 20, 2014 – StandardAero Business Aviation, through its anchor MRO facility located on the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) airfield, has strengthened its focus for West Coast aircraft operators by expanding facilities and services at LAX and Van Nuys (VNY) Airports, receiving FAA approval for satellite operations at VNY, adding new authorizations for engines and airframes and appointing new leadership for its sales and operations team.
“Standard Aero LAX continues its expansion of capabilities and capacity on the West Coast to better support our customers and to meet the growing demand of new engine and airframe platforms,” said Robert Lummus, Vice President & General Manager of StandardAero LAX facility.
In August of this year, LAX received Line approval as an Authorized Service Facility for the Bombardier CL300/350 series of aircraft. This authorization effectively expands StandardAero’s CompleteCare portfolio as capabilities exist to service this aircraft nose-to-tail inclusive of the Honeywell HTF7000 and HTF7350 engines.
Earlier in the year, the Van Nuys FAA FSDO authority issues an Air Agency Certificate for StandardAero operations at the VNY airport. In April, the company’s VNY facility became fully operational and staffed with eight technicians supported with OEM approved tooling. Since that time, StandardAero has introduced its VNY capabilities to Falcon, Bombardier, Embraer customers and operators of Honeywell powered aircraft to the new and expanded service offerings at VNY.
In addition, StandardAero’s LAX facility has expanded its maintenance and repair service capabilities for Honeywell GTCP series APUs, receiving both Honeywell OEM authorization and FAA certification. StandardAero has created a dedicated 1,000 square foot repair shop that is now ready to service customers.
With all of these recent changes, the company has also bolstered its West Coast leadership team. Earlier this year, StandardAero promoted Tom Campbell to a new position as Western Regional Sales Director. Campbell, a seven-year veteran of StandardAero, previously served as a Regional Sales Manager covering Northern California, Oregon, Washington British Columbia and Alaska. To continue to support customers in this territory, StandardAero also appointed Jeff Graser to the LAX team. Graser has over 35 years of aviation experience, starting his aviation career with Garrett in 1979 and spent 21 years working at LAX. Additionally, StandardAero hired Yorkk Swick as Director of Engine Operations. Swick brings more than 23 years of professional experience in the MRO industry including previous efforts to develop, implement and grow StandardAero’s Mobile Service Team (MST) footprint.
StandardAero’s 124,000 square foot LAX facility houses one of North America’s most capable corporate jet facilities, providing customers with a full range of engine, avionics and airframe repair, maintenance and modifications. For over 60 years, the facility has served the domestic and international corporate aviation community. The LAX operation is staffed with more than 65 technicians, averaging more than 10 years of employment with StandardAero, who can perform virtually any maintenance event – scheduled or unscheduled.
StandardAero LAX is an FAA approved repair station pursuant to 14 C.F.R. Part 145 and has been approved as a rated Repair Station by European Aviation Safety Agency – EASA, Bermuda, Mexico, Transport Canada and recently completed on-site audit by DGCA India and anticipates that certification approval in the new future.
