U.S. Air Force Awards T56 Engine Module Maintenance Contract to StandardAero

Scottsdale, Ariz. –December 15, 2016 – The U.S. Air Force (USAF) has awarded a contract to StandardAero to perform Rolls-Royce T56 engine module and engine maintenance. The one-year contract is a "bridge" contract that sustains T56 overhauls while the USAF prepares for a future commercial competition that will result in a multi-year maintenance contract.

StandardAero has performed maintenance on the USAF fleet of engines since 1999, and will assume the role of prime contractor under the bridge contract.

"We are proud to continue our support of the USAF’s fleet of C-130H aircraft," said Terry Hastman, Vice President & General Manager for StandardAero. "To be entrusted with continuing to supply world-class Engine MRO services is a responsibility we take very seriously."

This contract award follows a USAF contract award in March of this year for performing T56 engine upgrades, known as the model 3.5 upgrade, which improves fuel efficiency, reduces maintenance costs, increases reliability and enhances performance.

StandardAero will be the sole T56 engine depot for the USAF and Navy in 2017, and work will be performed at Port San Antonio, San Antonio, Texas and Winnipeg, Canada.
